Ode to Bali
It is with so much Gratitude to Bali that I am able to offer this dress. This dress for me carries the essence of the beauty, free spirit and loving vibration of Bali and the Balinese people. Aptly, I have titled it the Little wildling Dress. The open back is the main feature of this summer dress and the perfect combination of sexiness and sweetness.
Designed to bring out the Little Wildling in you, this print features one of my fav birds, the PEACOCK. Its plumes are like the robes of royalty, and its head is crowned like a monarch.
In history, myth, legend and lore, the peacock symbolism carries portents of nobility, holiness, guidance, protection and resurrection (as it sheds its feathers once a year and grows new ones). The peacock is a symbol of a vibrant life, of flaunting what you have and reaping the fruits of your talents. I love this because I feel all too often we are told to dim our light. Dont be too loud, too vibrant, too bright. So the energy of this dress is about being all of those things! If this dress and print calls to you, I implore you to own it and wear it with your full expression and vibrance! Colorful, graceful, and prideful, it is beauty at its finest.
We make this dress traditionally, using slow fashion techniques with real life humans. To make the material for this kimono we use 7 separate screens, with each color screened by hand until whallah!! ..we eventually get this beautiful combination of print and color! Expect some minor imperfections in the print which confirms the handmade process of this beautiful material.
Wear this dress with bare feet or style with your fav vintage scuffed boots. Made for maximum twirling impact – so dont forget to dance like no one is watching!
We are proudly produce our clothing fairly working conditions, where our workers receive ethical working conditions and at least a minimum fair-trade wage as outlined by the Indonesian government. In most cases much higher.
Made by humans, not machines. You may experience some minor inconsistencies, which only confirm it's hand-made process. This is part of our #slowfashion commitment to honor tradition and keep skilled artisans in jobs. It's riskier and more expensive to make the material this way, but the romantic in me insists this is how it must be produced. Human and imperfect, the material carries the energy of all who have helped make it and that romance I believe transcends to the wearer.
Composition: 100% Viscose, hand-painted with love.
Care instructions:
For best results, hand washing is advised. If hand washing, use only minimal amounts of detergent and do not soak for longer than one hour. After rinsing in fresh water, dry the item flat in a shaded area away from direct sunlight to avoid fading. Steaming is the preferred method for cleaning, otherwise, iron inside out on the appropriate setting for the material, using a handkerchief between the material and the iron to avoid scold marks. Lightly spray with water prior to ironing for best results.
